REDUCING OUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

The College recognises the importance of sustainability and reducing the environmental impact of our events.

The College is participating in a carbon-offset program for the 2024 Congress. If you wish to make a voluntary donation of $25, this will be used to offset a tonne of carbon through two Tasman Environmental Projects. For details on each project, please click the below links:

The National Convention Centre Canberra (NCCC) is committed to continual improvement in environmental sustainability through meeting government and legislative requirements, and customer and employee expectations to reduce our impact on the environment. Some of the initiatives the NCCC undertakes to reduce the impact on the environment include:

  • Re-gifting conference satchels and promotional items to orphanages and schools in India, Nepal, South-East Asia and Africa
  • Air conditioning is timed by the event start and finish times
  • Working with the OzHarvest Food Rescue to reduce food wastage

The NCCC is centrally located and a short walk from the Congress hotels and the Alinga Street train station. Bus lines 3, 56, 59 or 182 also arrive right outside the Centre if you live locally.

We encourage delegates to think about things you can implement too. They might be as simple as bringing a reusable Keep Cup with you to Canberra for your morning coffee, or ensuring you use the separate waste bins that are provided throughout the centre. Please also consider using a digital ticket for your flight, and choosing to offset the carbon emissions from your travel in advance.

TIME ZONE

Canberra is on Australian Eastern Standard Time (UTC +10:00).
